When you live in a tropical country as humid as the Philippines, teenage acne problems may tend to overextend their visit and turn into full blown adult acne – the type that follows you around during important meetings and client calls, distracting your audience from agreeing with you on that important sales pitch by focusing their attention on that ginormous pustule that has seems to have moved in on the end of your nose, taunting you to pop it lest it decides to grow and multiply, creeping up to your forehead instead.

Now, while I still suffer from the occasional pimple here and there, my 19-year-old sister has been battling with acne (and her hormones) for the past couple of years now. Smack dab in the middle of her teenage years, breakouts are a real problem, and it does affect her self esteem, yet being on a student budget, trips to the dermatologist as well as the maintenance creams and toners are more of a luxury than anything else. Which is why I like Vide Nutriscience’s AcneCare system. It’s effective yet affordable, and the combination of soap, lotion, and medication makes for a cleansing ritual that can easily be incorporated into every day.

The AcneCare Soap (Php 149) lasts a long time, and I recommend cutting up the glycerin soap into smaller pieces to save up space in the sink if you use it in lieu of facial wash. This can also be used for the body – for the back and chest or wherever else annoying pimples seem to pop up. The soap contains bio sulfur, tea tree oil and Ace-B3, which helps stop and dry up pimples before they turn into adult pustules without drying out your skin.

While the soap takes care of pimples externally, taking two AcneCare Capsules (Php 885) daily helps decrease breakouts immensely. using an ingredient called lactoferrin, this is naturally produced in the body and has many properties that makes it somewhat of a wonder protein. It has anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-allergic, and anti-cancer properties that all work to fight the major causes of acne. With anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial action, this product helps ease off acne and other skin blemishes. It also has an anti-oxidant action that helps you to achieve fair, healthy-looking skin.

For trouble spots that need extra attention, Vida Nutriscience will be coming out with AcneCare Drying Lotion soon! It looks and feels a little bit like calamine lotion, best applied with a q-tip or cotton ball on areas with stubborn pimples that just won’t budge, and it dries into a powder that eventually falls off.

Since my sister started using AcneCare products, her face has cleared up and went from red and blotchy to smooth and even. I was worried that the shallow pitting she had on her cheeks would be permanent, but the medication seems to have helped with that, too! Overall, she’s very happy with the outcome and I’m seeing her self-confidence grow day by day thanks to a now pimple-free face.
