You really can’t miss Restoran Garuda, situated along Salcedo street, with the its simple black and white sign and the industrial-looking space you can admire form the street. I’ve sorely been missing makanan Indonesia for a while now, so when I got wind of a new Indonesian place opening right in front of the Indonesian embassy in Makati, I just had to check it out. We parked outside Lime & Basil Thai Restaurant’s large wooden gates with its verdant walls, and I stopped to take a quick picture of the grumpy looking wooden statue guarding the villa. To the right of the entrance looks to be the owner’s actual home, and on the left is the restaurant, surrounded by giant tropical plants. It felt like I was transported to a private villa in Ko Samui.
Qiwellness Living is easy enough to find, situated along Aguinaldo Highway right after Domicillo Design Hotel. A receptionist peeks out from the big, bright red door, ushering Jericho and I in, out arrival announced with a clash of a gong. What looks like a simple bungalow on the outside, is actually three levels to the place – the dining floor, the teahouse, and the spa floor. I spent most of my time at the teahouse, looking out at the gorgeous view of Taal Lake while sipping on a sweet tea and reading a book, before heading back upstairs to the dining room for a late lunch.
The Early Bird Breakfast Club is a spot of sunshine at Solenad 3, radiating positivity and warmth with their ‘Gram-worthy interiors of millennial pinks, sage greens, canary yellows, and little accents that give the place a homey, English cottage appeal. Teaming up with Deal Grocer, they’ve come up with a breakfast bundle that includes a British classic, a twist on classic flavors, and a sweet Pinoy breakfast favorite you’ll be fighting over for.
Entrepreneur Manny Osmeña opened the doors to Ibiza Beach Club, his 1,000-seater flagship restaurant in April, enjoying the best of both dining and entertainment. I got a sneak peek at what was in store for guests when they visit, and I have to be honest, I had a really good time. If you’re looking for a few more reasons to check out Ibiza Beach Club in BGC, here are eight more.
So what do you do when you’re craving for dishes like deep-fried pigeon, honey-glazed char siu, double-boiled black chicken soup, or the infamous Buddha jumps over the wall? I think I’ve fallen in love with Paradise Dynasty. I really have. The interiors are gorgeous you’d think you were in a hotel, but the prices are that of any decent Chinese place that serves lemon chicken, Macau crispy pork, and Yang Chow fried rice. If you haven’t yet, here are 8 reasons to take your family there, and maybe change your mind.
