Okay, so this might come off as a bit confusing. For a mestiza that practically glowed in the dark, I guess you’re wondering why in the world I would need skin whitening products. That plus the fact that I’ve worked so hard to get tan, it doesn’t make sense to put all those hours of browning in the sun to waste on going back to a pasty white again, no?

Hear me out.

SnowCaps L-Glutathione Capsules

Glutathione is naturally produced by our liver and is one of the most powerful antioxidants produced by the body. Commonly found in foods such as tomatoes, oranges, broccoli, spinach and meat, it is often called the master antioxidant because of its ability to prevent damage caused by free radicals and toxins. While an overdose of glutathione produces a side effect of our skin turning a few shades whiter, a normal amount helps repair the cells in our body and gets rid of harmful toxins caused by stress, an unhealthy lifestyle, and aging.

Vida Nutriscience‘s box of SnowCaps L-Glutathione (Php 1,450/ 30 capsules) contains capsules with just the right formulation of L-Glutathione with Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Vitamin C which all help the liver undo some of the effects of poor lifestyle choices and stress. The whitening process works lightening dark melanin pigments and reducing melanocytes, cells that produce melanin. If you’re a water rat that’s constantly out under the sun, protecting your skin (not just tanning it) will definitely be a concern. A boost of glutathione protects you from the inside out.

In a span of two weeks, I found myself practically glowing! My skin had a healthy, dewy look to it and all my little scars and freckles lightened significantly, and I didn’t feel as poorly as often as I used to when I started taking SnowCaps. The recommended dosage is one capsule in the morning, with or without breakfast, as glutathione levels are lowest and oxidative stress is highest during the day.

Snow Skin Whitening Soap

While taking SnowCaps _-Glutathione capsules, I also highly recommended to use Snow Skin Whitening Soap (Php 149). The simple glycerin-based soap is scentless and very mild on the skin – other whitening soaps have a mild burning sensation followed by really, really dry skin. This helps tremendously when it came down to lightening scars, stretch marks, knees and elbows. Also, unlike most whitening soaps on the market, Snow Skin takes a while to melt – which means there’s more for you to use and less of evaporating into nothingness. I’ve found using this a week before a long beach trip to even out patchy skin color and to use after a good scrub down for an even, glowing tan.

So, while I may not be the best person to talk to when it comes to skin whitening, I am one of the people you can talk to about maintaining that tan, and ironically, it involves whitening products. For gorgeous, radical-free skin, keep a box of SnowCaps L-Glutathione in your vitamin arsenal (double up if you want to want to lighten your skin tone) and have a few bars of Snow White on hand for whitening knees and elbows – usually the parts of the body that may get too dark when using tanning lotion – for a beautiful, even glow.
